This date night tour was created by Doorways of Chicago creator, Ronnie Frey.

Art Deco, sometimes referred to as Deco, is a style of visual arts, architecture and design that first appeared in France just before World War I. It influenced the design of buildings, furniture, jewelry, fashion, cars, cinemas, trains, ocean liners, and everyday objects such as radios and vacuum cleaners.  It took its name, short for Arts Décoratifs, from the Exposition Internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes (International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts) held in Paris in 1925. You will see many clean-lined and simple, "moderne" motifs of the deco period on this tour which include: streamlined shapes, horizontal lines (suggesting speed), verticality in buildings, zig zags or ziggurats, stair-stepping, sunbursts, silver and golden metallics, and a general sense of modern style & glamour of the roaring twenties and flapper eras. Art Deco combined modern styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials. During its heyday, it represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress.

April showers lead to May flowers and new relationships in bloom! Match.com is offering an exciting new live experience to get outside and smell the roses (here in Chicago, it's tulips and daffodils this time of year, but you get the idea). 

We've partnered with eATLAS to create a new event that is part tour and part scavenger hunt. At this event, you'll be assigned into teams to compete and complete an app-guided tour/scavenger hunt through the Loop and Chicago Riverwalk. On this excursion, you'll learn about an important historical symbol in Chicago that is hidden in plain sight everywhere around the city. It'll be your job to collaborate with your team to find these symbols while learning about Chicago's history and design. There will be a prize for the winning team.

Rules:
1. Teams need to work individually
2. Team Leader's score is the official score for the team
3. Use anything you want to find answers, ie: ask for help on the street or Google
4. Have fun and make new friends!

Founded in 2009, the Chicago French Market is a European-inspired marketplace, and Chicago’s original year-round indoor food hall. The Market is home to more the 20 local vendors presenting foods and goods from around the block and around the world. Visitors can enjoy a variety of cuisine, from French delicacies at Vanille Pâtisserie, to Vietnamese flavors from Saigon Sisters, to authentic Cuban sandwiches from Cubano Bros.  This Parisian-inspired scavenger hunt invites both Francophiles and foodies alike to explore the fascinating intersection of French food, history, and language.
