This Adventure is part tour and part scavenger hunt. At this event, you'll be assigned into teams to compete and complete an app-guided tour/scavenger hunt through the Loop and Chicago Riverwalk. On this excursion, you'll learn about an important historical symbol in Chicago that is hidden in plain sight everywhere around the city. It'll be your job to collaborate with your team to find these symbols while learning about Chicago's history and design.

This date night tour was created by Doorways of Chicago creator, Ronnie Frey.

Art Deco, sometimes referred to as Deco, is a style of visual arts, architecture and design that first appeared in France just before World War I. It influenced the design of buildings, furniture, jewelry, fashion, cars, cinemas, trains, ocean liners, and everyday objects such as radios and vacuum cleaners.  It took its name, short for Arts Décoratifs, from the Exposition Internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes (International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts) held in Paris in 1925. You will see many clean-lined and simple, "moderne" motifs of the deco period on this tour which include: streamlined shapes, horizontal lines (suggesting speed), verticality in buildings, zig zags or ziggurats, stair-stepping, sunbursts, silver and golden metallics, and a general sense of modern style & glamour of the roaring twenties and flapper eras. Art Deco combined modern styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials. During its heyday, it represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress.

El art déco, a veces llamado déco, es un estilo de artes visuales, arquitectura y diseño que surgió en Francia justo antes de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Influyó en el diseño de edificios, muebles, joyas, moda, automóviles, cines, trenes, transatlánticos y objetos cotidianos como radios y aspiradoras. Su nombre, abreviatura de "Artes Decorativas", proviene de la Exposición Internacional de Artes Decorativas e Industriales Modernas (Exposition Internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes) celebrada en París en 1925. En este recorrido, observará numerosos motivos "modernos" de líneas limpias y sencillas del período Decó, como: formas aerodinámicas, líneas horizontales (que sugieren velocidad), verticalidad en los edificios, zigzags o zigurats, escalonamientos, rayos de sol, metálicos plateados y dorados, y una sensación general de estilo moderno y glamour de los años veinte y la época de las flappers. El Art Decó combinaba estilos modernos con artesanía fina y materiales nobles. En su apogeo, representó lujo, glamour, exuberancia y fe en el progreso social y tecnológico.
