1893 World's Columbian Exposition

All the eyes of the world were on Chicago from May 1, 1893, to October 30, 1893. Chicago was selected to host a world's fair a mere 20 years after the city had burnt to the ground in October of 1871. The fair would honor the 400th anniversary of Christoper Columbus discovering the new world. For 6 months, Chicago would be the showcase of all the latest achievements of mankind. Jackson Park was the home of what would become known as "The White City" due to the white glistening buildings reminiscent of ancient Rome and Greece. This tour will take you to various sites in and around Jackson Park and show you what you would have experienced in 1893 and also what still remains.
